This semester Kelly and I took a winter camping class together! It was fun! We learned all about snow, wind chill, how to not get cold, how to pack, different ways that we get cold, different kinds of snow, how Eskimos live, different animals that change color in winter, winter games, native stories, and lots of other helpful information (not all useful to everyday life though!).
Here are some pictures and fun things that we did on our trip, March 20-22
This is how you make spaghetti when winter camping.. first step: melt snow into water!
Tatiana was Kelly and I's cooking buddy!
This is Kelly cutting blocks for our igloo!
This group started their igloo way before us...and we finished first!
Kelly and I made great progress on our igloo by ourselves! We are/were quite proud!
Arin chillin like a villian
Cutting snow blocks--it's harder than in looks! Those when those itty bitty snowflakes condense they are solid!
Bro. Wescott rockin' the Neo's
Building igloos is hard, everybody stripped their clothes and threw them into the trees
Kelly adding the keystone of the igloo!
Cross country skiing! We had a blast!
I asked Sydney "Hey will you take a picture of us?" and she said "sure!"... she literally took a picture of her and I.... I meant for her to take a picture of Kelly and I :)
Holding our snow saws by our awesome igloo!
Kelly and Ryan playing an Inuit game of muskox wrestling
Standing on top of our igloo! It was so strong!
While breaking the third igloo (not this one and not the one that we made) we had to drag a guy out on a sled and drive him to the E.R. because he jumped in, made a hole... his right leg made it out... but his left leg bent in a weird way, made a popping noise and didn't make it all the way out... We broke camp quickly that morning!
